Going Out With A Bang
26 December 2009
2009 is rapidly approaching the finish line. It's been a challenging year. Many of us are not sad to see it go and hoping for smoother sailing in 2010. But it's not over til it's over-we could still see a bit of excitement in 2009.
On the grand scale, the Stars indicate that we may see wild, flamboyant aggressive behavior. Expect the unexpected, especially in business and finance. Mercury is now in retrograde (appears to be going backwards) in tough, nose-to-the grindstone Capricorn. So be careful with money, and for goodness sake, try not to step on any toes at work-it could boomerang two-fold.
Got plans for New Year's celebrations? Best to rein in any tendencies to go nuts-really. Moon is in her home sign, Cancer New Year's Eve. But she is at uncomfortable angles with Sun, Saturn and power-tripping Pluto-ouch! Judgement may not be the best-one could pay dearly for a moments indiscretion. The Stars indicate that this years New Year's celebrations are best spent quietly with family and friends. The last two days of 2009 should be great days to do some serious personal accounting-where we've been, where we'd like to go, how to expand future horizons - going out with a quiet bang.
Happy New Year!
Wishing all Health, Peace & Prosperity
Throughout the New Year,
-Paula
A Couple of Nice Days
16-17 December 2009
Feeling the stress of this tough economy? Holiday pressures getting to you? Chill. The Stars are gracing us with some good vibes for the next couple of days.
Today, 16 December Sun, Moon and Venus are all at roughly the same place in Sagittarius, the sign of good luck, expansion, nature and long-range travel. This could be a good day to plan for the future, consider decisions for the future based on your past life experiences and discuss options with family and friends.
By tomorrow 17 December, Moon will have moved to Capricorn, restricting emotions and communications with friends. Nonetheless, this should be a good day to do some mental accounting-plan that budget now! In a couple of weeks we could get sudden surprises when it comes to paying the piper.
Onward & Upward,
-Paula
Happy Winter Holidays
11 December 2009
Hello Everyone! Wishing all a joyful and safe Winter Holiday Season. However you celebrate, take heed of your finances and safety. The Stars, as usual are presenting us with a few challenges.
The good news-wild, eccentric Uranus is out of retrograde (appearing to move backwards) in emotional and intuitive Pisces. Our overall understanding of what’s really happening behind the scenes could be clearer. We should have a more long-range understanding of what’s going on and less likely to act on what we’d like to believe.
The next few days are a great time for getting out and about-a good time to socialize or just spend time with friends and family. But we must be careful of influences from those who may try to influence us with their “great ideas”. Trust your instincts, friends. A wrong decision now could cost gravely in the near future-more about that later. Hope the politicians are taking this advice from the Stars.
Onward & Upward,
-Paula
Squaring Up, Getting Comfortable
22 November 2009
Happy birthday, Sagittarians. Sun is now in your sign, the sign of higher ideals, expansiveness, higher values and nature. Jupiter, the ruling planet of Sagittarius is in Aquarius, far seeing, creative, and eccentric. Lest we get complacent, the stars never make it easy-Jupiter is opposite Mars (aggression, self-projection) in Leo “The Ego”. Imagine Mars at 3 o’clock and Jupiter at 9 o’clock. This makes for a stressful situation-tension between aggressive egotism and far-seeing benevolence. But dear Venus, (in persistent, secretive Scorpio-imagine at 12 o’clock, 90 degrees, squaring Jupiter and Mars) diplomacy, beauty and physical comforts stabilizes the tension, pointing us to placid, earthy, financially-capable, comfort-loving Taurus.
It’s not surprising that the Health Reform Bill is proving to be such a challenge. The general trend in the stars is financial restraint, rather than nurturing, and no one wanting to give up what’s come to be comfortable.
Onward & Upward,
-Paula
Paying For The Past
18 November 2009
Some claim the economy is getting better while others are still in the depression of unemployment. It’s all a matter of one’s personal; situation and perspective. However, most do agree that our current difficulties are due to past excesses, unwise use of financial resources-even the Stars agree.
However, the Stars also indicate a solution to our economic ills; and as you probably suspect, the solution will not be quick or necessarily simple. We can expect to see a lot more energy, action and unique solutions in the use of all resources-be ready for some real surprises in the next year. The focus is likely be on the day to day needs-basic human well-being-with the general financial tendencies going in this direction.
Finally, some unpleasant issues could come to light, but genuine desires to “do the best thing” will probably temper any negative results. These are indeed interesting times.
Keep Smiling,
-Paula
Happy Birthday Fellow Libras
13 October 2009
Wishing my fellow Libras the happiest of birthdays, health, success and all around good vibes in the coming year.
On a grand scale, we’ll have our challenges in the next few years. The general trend of the stars indicates tendencies towards power, ambition along with a measure of rigidness. These are not the traits that we diplomatic, peacemaking Libras find easy to deal with. In addition, Saturn, the strict taskmaster of the planets moves into Libra on 29 October and will remain in our sign for about the next two years. Now don’t panic! Sun Saturn conjunct (when Sun and Saturn are at about the same point in a sign) can give us a stronger resolve and focus our energies on achievement. So the next couple of years could be a great time to wrap up any ongoing projects and possibly get some recognition.
OK, so take a deep breath, everyone. The stars are cutting all of us a little slack; it’s not all nose to the grindstone. There is an undercurrent of progressiveness with visionary strains. The stars indicate a long-term sincere striving for cooperation for the greater good. This is a slow steady undercurrent, but don’t be surprised by sudden unexpected changes. These aspects are very favorably positioned for us Libras, and with Saturn’s stern focusing influence, some of us Libras may well achieve some great things.
Keep Smiling,
-Paula
Time To Sober Up
16 September 2009
From 17-27 September, Sun and Saturn will conjunct, be at roughly the same angle. This is one of the strongest possible aspects in astrology-wake up and smell the coffee!
Saturn is the planet of accounting, achievement, the task master, tit for tat, no-nonsense, restrictions and limitations. Sun of course is the Ego, the deepest self. So, on the grand scale, we can expect less razzle dazzle and more seroiusness. With the Mercury retrograde (until 29-30 September), things will probably be even more tense, especially in day to day taking care of business matters-not much room for carelessness.
What's the best course of action? This is a good time to consider responsibilities, doing some accounting and planning, taking a serious look at long-term goals. With Mercury in retrograde, we can expect snafus-don't expect to wrap things up overnight. But at least we can start getting our ducks in a row. Humm.... hope a few congressional members are reading this.
Nose to the grindstone,
-Paula
In Memory...
9 September 2009
This post is written in memory of all the innocent victims who perished in attacks on the USA September 11, 2001. May we never again experience such horror destruction and loss of innocent life.
Recently I took a look at the astrological chart (position of the planets) for 11 September 2001. Again, the stars do not determine our lives or events, but they do influence on a grand scale as well as individuals. The first thing I noticed in 911’s chart is the tension, opposition and tendency towards aggression-amazing!
Sun was in the sign of Virgo, the careful precise planner. But sun was aspected (angled with) with Saturn (achievement, ambition) in such a way to indicate very strong ambitions, especially in the area of joint resources, controlling life and death. Power and willfulness (thanks to Pluto's placement and aspect with Saturn) were the strongest factors in the entire chart. Anger and resentment had built up to the awful explosion that the world witnessed; and keen analytical and organizational skills were well orchestrated to carry out this vengeful, “pre-emptive” act of anger and resentment.
Fortunately, the astrological picture was not completely angry and aggressive. Mercury, the planet of communications, was in Libra, the sign of diplomacy, caring and fairness to others was very favorably aspected with Venus, Libra’s ruling planet. Moon (nurture, caring, traditional) was favorably aspected with Uranus (spontaneity, far-sightedness)-hence, the spontaneous out-pouring of help from off-duty rescue workers and police personnel.
Never Forget,
-Paula
Boom, Bang, Crunch
Hold On To Your Horses
2 September 2009
That’s right, boom, bang crunch. Hold on to your horses, take a deep breath and get ready to steady your nerves from now until about the seventh of October. Mercury, the planet of communications, short-range transportation and taking care of day to day matters will go into retrograde (will appear to be moving backwards) 6-7 September until 29-30 September. We can expect all kinds of Snafus, foul ups, miscommunications and misunderstandings in daily life-not a good time to try to work out details, sign contracts or start new projects-best to concentrate on laying the groundwork and working out internal matters.
As if Mercury retrograde isn’t difficult enough, the other planet are doing their bit to add to our stress at the beginning of this retrograde-possibly making a real mess for us. Patience is the key here. Relationships that are normally smooth could become argumentative-with parties not even remembering or understanding why they got into it in the first place. Be on guard. There could also be tendencies to manipulate ideas through secret dealings-not a good time to trust people you don’t really know. Fortunately, Venus will be at an optimum angle with moon at this retrograde’s beginning, smoothing the path a little for us in our dealings with others.
By retrograde’s end (about 30 September 2009), stress in personal relationships will have slackened. However, it pays to stay on your guard for another week. The stars should be more gracious, but it still pays to be on your guard against those who “know it all”-their “knowledge” will probably be unstable and changeable-best to put your trust in those with sharp analytical skills and the ability to actively look for the underlying issues-again, be prepared for a few surprises. Finally, a little good news-this tough economy could loosen up a bit, especially employment. Don’t expect too much though, but employees may be less fearful and more likely to hire on the basis of need. So if you’re beating the bushes, this could be a good time to give it your best try.
Take a deep breath and chill,
Keep smiling,
-Paula
The Real Stars at Woodstock
A Look At Woodstock-40 Years Later
15 August 2009
This week end, we Boomers are noting the 40th anniversary of
Woodstock, our generations ultimate concert/gathering of music, love and peace.
Despite attempts to recreate the original, Woodstock has never been successfully recreated. Maybe it’s all in the stars. Events like people have birth charts that indicate character. The sun and other planets are in specific signs, along with many other astrological influences. After taking a look at Woodstock’s “birth chart”, the character of this historical event becomes quite clear.
One of the most outstanding characteristics of Woodstock’s chart is the fact that it was a highly public event. The event exceeded expectations one hundred fold. The stars did indeed indicate cooperation, harmony, consideration and nurturing to the point of naivety i.e. love and peace. However, all did not go smoothly, as the stars had warned us. The high ideals did not spill over into the practical hygienic needs of such a crowd. But oddly enough, this is not what we remember and talk about when we discuss Woodstock.
So what was the message of this historical gathering? The stars indicated that the “bottom line” for humanity is not always so clearly defined. We need to learn to “think out of the box” when making organizational decisions, especially those concerning material resources and their use. Reality is not always built on deductive logic (if a=b and b=c then a=c), we must consider the undercurrents, the whys and knock ourselves out digging up the real issues, more often than not, hidden. Easier said than done, but according to Woodstock’s stars, this is the path to realizing the Flower Children’s goal of love, peace and justice for humanity. Interesting, isn’t it? The more things change, the more they stay the same.
.
Love, Peace

Happy Birthday, President Obama
Perks & Challenges From The Stars In Your 48th Year
3 August 2009
Happy Birthday, Mr. President! (4 August 1961) Wishing you all the very best in your forty-eighth year. Like the rest of us, you are influenced by the stars from the moment of birth. Below is a synopsis of the stars’ influence during the coming year. But keep in mind: “A wise person knows the stars; a fool is ruled by them.”
As we’ve all seen, you’re broad-minded, curious, and full of desire to further humanitarian causes. You’re an independent thinker with a high level of energy-a reformer at heart. A Leo Sun has granted you an authoritarian presence; and its placement in your natal chart gives you energy and strength to manage the day to day, nitty-gritty work.
The strongest focus of your natal chart is a deep-seated belief in the use of all resources for the common good. You are particularly capable of doing your homework, researching and collating information to carry out plans and effectively communicating with others.
This coming year, you’ll have some perks as well as challenges from the stars. (The stars giveth and taketh away – at least in their influence on us.) Your forty-eighth year will not be an easy one. Something tells me that you’ve already figured that out. So here are a few specifics.
Your confidence in the ability to succeed and grasp of reality may be shaken. When you are leaned on, there could be a tendency to get over-involved and lose perspective. Be careful here. You should have the energy and resolution to act as you see fit. (Read: You got the power.) Take heart, Mr. President. There is a strong indication that you will succeed in putting America’s health care system in order. Your ability to think “out of the box” should be very good now; but take care to do your due diligence, get your ducks in a row, before sharing your ideas with others - best not to share ideas until they are crystal clear in your own mind. The stars indicate that there are those who could usurp your power and influence if you are not thoroughly prepared and stand your ground. So concentrate on organization and clarity before pushing. You stand an excellent chance of success.
Wishing you a happy birthday, health and
Success throughout the coming year, Mr. President
Keep Smiling,
-Paula
Happy Birthday, Leos
Celebrating The Age of Aquarius
24 July 2009
Happy birthday, Leos. Celebrate your birthday and an Age of Aquarius.
Remember the words to the song, Age of Aquarius-“Moon in the seventh house, Jupiter aligns with Mars”? Well, that’s one possibility. Moon is in the seventh house, Libra, for a couple of days every month. This month, Moon will be in Libra Sunday, Monday and most of Tuesday 26, 27, 28 July. But, our current “Age of Aquarius” is a different and more long-lasting picture.
Neptune, the sign of the times planet-our hopes, dreams, wishes and illusions, will be in Aquarius for about 2 more years. However, Neptune is aligned with (conjuncts with) Jupiter (justice, morality, higher learning), also in Aquarius. A placement of these planets in Aquarius indicates a progressive, idealistic spirit. In the grand scheme, from now until about 13 October 2009 should be an excellent time to reflect, analyze and plan for progressive humanitarian goals, being careful not to fall into sentimentality or over optimism.
All this sound too good to be true? Could be, especially for you Leos born the latter part of the sign. Your natural love of the limelight and authoritarian nature may tend to get out of hand. So be careful. Fortunately for President Obama, his birthday falls in the early part of the sign.
Happy Birthday, USA
An Astrological Forecast For America’s Next Year
1 July 2009
On 4 July 2009, the USA celebrates its 233rd birthday, actually the anniversary of the Declaration of Independence from England. But did you know that historical events, like people also have natal charts? So let’s take a look at the Stars’ influence on the USA during the next year.
America’s Sun Sign is Cancer, its deepest nature and philosophy being reserved, traditional, security-conscious. But from the very beginning, there has been a constant tension between this nature and a harsh, practical ambitious nature. In addition, to this inborn tension, the USA’s best intentions have often been mishandled or even when well handled, misunderstood. But in their generosity, the Stars have given America a talent for overcoming the tension and presenting a face of stability and reliability to the rest of the world. So what are the Stars influences for the world’s biggest Moon Child in the coming year?
In general, the USA will proceed in confidence in the next year, with greater than usual efforts towards justice. It will remember and draw on lessons from the past. Relationships with allies should improve as well as diplomacy in general. Internal compromises are likely to come with more ease. And yes, there is even an indication that a workable solution to the health care crisis will be found!
Does it all sound too good to be true? You’re right. The USA will continue to face financial challenges. Efforts to bring about more financial stability will continue to be frustrated. Compromises will not be easily made. Hopefull, we won’t see fists fights in Congress.
The Astrology of Iran’s Unrest
28 June 2009
The Iranian takeover of the American Embassy on 4 November 1979 occurred at a time when there was a deep-seated desire for power and the resilience to follow through. In attention, there was tremendous tension between this desire for power and consideration for what future consequences would be. In other words, the judgment of those who were able to seize power was seriously compromised-especially as far as the country’s long-term material well-being was concerned. They have since become self-satisfied and indulgent.
So why have things in Iran exploded again? Very simple. The planets are always in motion, shifting positions and continually influencing. And that’s just what has happened. There is a very strong undercurrent of search for balance. People are seeing past the rhetoric and deception of the events of 1979 and are prepared to take long-term didactic measures to bring about justice and balance in the society. As we’ve seen on recent news, power is shifting. The stars indicate that this shift is towards a long-term analytical, critical, communicative direction as well as economic improvement. But sudden, unexpected events are likely. As we’ve probably all guessed, the current situation is not going to blow over any time soon. We probably have not seen the worst of it. There is indication that violence could continue for some time. Fortunately, the unrest and violence will be limited and good judgment will prevail. The tide is turning and it’s rolling slow and steady. It’ll get nasty, but in the end, we’re likely to see a just balance of interests in Iran.
Happy Birthday Moon Children
28 June 2009
Everybody enjoys reading his/her horoscope or those of family and friends. Sometimes the readings hit home and sometimes they just give us a good laugh. As most people suspect, these readings are all too general to have much meaning. However, the planets are not only in constant motion, but they influence the world in a general way, not only the billions of individuals in it. In addition, theses influences can be long-term and we only understand them looking back-a common human occurrence. So, my focus here will generally be on the “Big Picture”.
The world’s got its challenges now, all complicated, many-sided problems. Below are the stars’ main current influences on us. I don’t make outright predictions; astrology does not predict future events. But it does give us a good idea of future tendencies.
* A lot of mental energy is being spent on returning to a secure safe world. Leaders, although ambitious and unwilling to rely on others for help, are listening, paying attention and seriously analyzing issues. However, perceptions and judgment are likely to be clouded, especially regarding future consequences of decisions and actions.
* Expect to see strong tendencies to protect and preserve the traditional. Energies are extremely high here. Compromise will not come easily. Fortunately it’s not likely that we’ll see large scale military action.
